What Does the Money in the Bank Briefcase Actually Contain?
The Money in the Bank briefcase is one of WWE’s most powerful storytelling tools. Inside the metallic case is a legitimate contract that allows the winner to challenge for any WWE championship within a one-year period. While most winners go after top titles like the Undisputed WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship, others have cashed in on secondary titles, such as when Austin Theory cashed in for the Intercontinental Title in 2022.
In WWE’s narrative world kayfabe the briefcase holds an official, physical contract. This was confirmed by Damian Priest, the 2023 winner, who revealed in an interview with Chris Van Vliet that the briefcase contains “a real contract,” putting rumors of it containing gimmicks or props to rest.
The briefcase itself is constructed to be durable, suspended roughly 20 feet above the ring, and designed to withstand the punishment of the matchwhether being bashed with ladders, thrown into the crowd, or used as a weapon.
With Seth Rollins and Naomi now in possession of their respective briefcases, the question becomes not if they'll cash in, but whenand on whom.
