The Colombian Championship match between Independiente Santa Fe and America de Cali was suspended for almost an hour after a massive fight broke out between fans at the El Campin Stadium in Bogota on Saturday. Terrifying videos of the brawl have erupted on social media showing the scale of chaos amid the ongoing football match.

There are reports that the fight broke out in the stands when the score was 0-0 during the 33rd minute of the first half of the match. The players and the support staff had to take shelter in the locker rooms as the crowd invaded the playing field with sticks and chairs.

The clashes continued and the riot police had to intervene to control the chaotic situation after which they had to deploy tear gas to disperse the crowd from the playing field.

After an interruption of about an hour, the match was able to resume which ended with both teams failing to score a single goal even in the remaining time of the match. The incident has highlighted the importance of stadium security.

America Goalkeeper Gets Hit On Head

America de Cali goalkeeper Jean Fernandes later claimed that a fan kicked him in the head while he was lying on the ground and receiving medical treatment. He also shared the video of the alleged incident on social media and also criticised the decision of continuing the match after the attack.

There are reports that the local authorities have ordered an investigation into the violence and there are also reports that both clubs might face sanctions over the disturbing incident risking hundreds of lives.
