Otters Open Swim Gala: Heeva Patel, Kabir Khubchandani Take Major Honours On Opening Day

Bombay YMCA’s Heeva Patel among girls under -13 and Khar Gymkhana’s Kabir Khubchandani among boys under-13 stole the major honours on the opening day of the 38th Otters Open swim gala. While Heeva captured three golds, two silvers and a bronze, Kabir took the pool in six events and won four golds and finished second best in the other two. However, none of the swimmers could improve upon the existing timings in any of respective their events.
Sharing the day’s honours with Heeva was her YMCA teammate Amatullah Dholkawala, who excelled in the 100m and 200m freestyle, pipping Heeva at the post, while Heeva topped in the 200m individual medley as well as 200m events. In the boys under-13 section,, Kabir was just superb, winning four golds and two silver, at the expense of other Bombay YMCA Hriday Morakhia.
In the senior women and men’s categories, Juhu Vile’s Janhavi Parikh bagged a double, in the women’s under-40, as she triumphed in the 50m freestyle and breast stroke events, while MGMO’s Joshua Joseph too ended with a brace, as she won the 50m breast stroke as well as 50m free style events. in the women’s under-50. Sections.
