Pune: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly taken to a lodge in Pune's Lohegaon area by a 24-year-old man with whom she was in a relationship, where he allegedly had sexual relations with her repeatedly. The girl later became pregnant, following which the accused allegedly took her to a doctor in Vishrantwadi and arranged for an abortion on July 27. Police have arrested the doctor, while the main accused remains absconding, officials said on Monday.
According to the police, the main accused has been identified as Akash Vishwakarma (24), a resident of Dhanori who works as a delivery executive. Police said Vishwakarma and the minor had known each other since December 2025 and were allegedly in a relationship.
According to the complaint, between February and July 2026, Vishwakarma allegedly took the minor to a lodge in Lohegaon on several occasions and had sexual relations with her. During this period, the girl became pregnant.
Police said that after learning about the pregnancy, Vishwakarma allegedly took the girl to a doctor identified as Barute in Vishrantwadi. The complaint alleges that the doctor was aware that the girl was a minor but nevertheless performed an abortion on July 27 without informing the authorities.
The complaint also states that a fake identity document was allegedly used for the minor while taking her to the lodge. Police are investigating this aspect of the case as well.
Based on the girl's complaint, Lohegaon police have registered a case against Vishwakarma and the doctor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Senior Police Inspector Manisha Patil said the doctor has been arrested and further investigation is underway. Police are conducting a search for Vishwakarma, who remains at large.
