Warkaris coming to Dehu and Alandi for the Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhis, respectively, have been advised to stay away from Jadhavwadi Lake and the Indrayani River by the Pune Irrigation Department amid heavy rains in the district.
Jadhavwadi Lake may overflow soon, said Digambar Dubal, Executive Engineer of the Pune Irrigation Department. Speaking to the media, he informed that the lake is currently 94.53 per cent full. "The lake has no gate to control water flow. Due to heavy and consistent rain, the water may start flowing into the Indrayani River at any time," he added.
"People living near in villages near the river are requested not to go near the river. If there are animals or belongings near the riverbank, we request they be moved to a safe place immediately," he said.
