Vishal Agarwal, father of the juvenile who allegedly mowed down two IT professionals with his speeding Porsche in Pune's Kalyani Nagar on May 19, was granted bail by a sessions court on Friday.
The court had heard arguments 10 days ago and granted bail on Friday in the primary case where he was booked under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Section 75 deals with "wilful neglect of a child, or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses".
Along with Agarwal, the court also granted bail to five other accused, including the owners and managers of two bars who were arrested for allegedly serving liquor to the juvenile under Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, which deals with supplying intoxicating liquor or drugs to a child.
Speaking to the media, Agarwal's lawyer stated that his client will continue to cooperate with the probe.
"My client, Vishal Agarwal, has been granted bail by the Honourable Sessions Court. It is his duty to abide by the conditions imposed by the court and he shall continue to cooperate with the investigating agency," Patil said.
Agarwal and his wife Shivani are currently in judicial custody in the case pertaining to the alleged blood sample swapping of their son, who, according to the police, was drunk at the time of the accident.
