Pune: PCMC Collects Rs 947 Crore In Property Tax In Pimpri-Chinchwad For FY 2025–26

Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has collected Rs 947 crore in tax for the financial year (2025-26). Out of 7,32,000 property owners, 6,27,790 have paid their taxes, officials announced on Wednesday.

PCMC officials reported that throughout the past year, awareness was raised regarding property tax payments at crowded places and main squares, alongside measures like sealing properties of defaulters and disconnecting water connections.

This received a positive response from citizens, resulting in a tax collection of Rs 947 crore. Payments were made by 5,52,042 residential, 52,211 non-residential, 4,783 industrial, 13,674 mixed-use, 5,049 vacant land, and 31 other property owners.

Rs 706.72 crores were paid through online modes, Rs 110.52 crores via cheques, Rs 83.88 crores in cash, Rs 7.9 crores through demand drafts, and Rs 6 lakhs via Electronic Data Capture (EDC).

Speaking about this, PCMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi said, “There has been a significant increase in tax recovery due to the planned operations of the Tax Collection Department and the easy facilities made available to citizens.”

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar, in charge of PCMC’s Taxation and Tax Collection Department, said, “Proper planning was done for tax recovery after the municipal elections. Rs 250 crore in tax were collected in two months. As a result, we have succeeded in collecting Rs 950 crores for the second time.”

Defaulters Received 45 Crores in Relief

The Pimpri-Chinchwad civic body implemented an amnesty (Abhay) scheme from 1st March to recover overdue taxes. Until 31st March, 83,470 defaulters took advantage of this scheme.

These property owners received a concession of Rs 45.13 crores. In these 31 days, property tax worth Rs 197.18 crores was collected.

Highest Tax from Wakad

There are 18 municipal departments for tax collection in the city. They divide the city into zones. Officials reported that the highest collection of Rs 117.18 crore came from the Wakad divisional office. Recently, the Wakad division has been the division always on top of tax payments in the city.

Wakad was followed by Thergaon with Rs 97.61 crores and Chinchwad with Rs 77.34 crores. The lowest tax collection of Rs 8.42 crores was recorded at the Pimpri Nagar office.
