Nashik: Nashik Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manisha Khatri conducted an on-site inspection of the Ramkund area today to review preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela. Local corporators accompanied her during the visit.

A road has been excavated for drainage work near the Devi Temple at the Godavari riverbank (Sandva area). However, it was observed that there was a lack of barricading, security guards, and signage. Consequently, a devotee fell into the pit yesterday. Corporators brought to the Commissioner's attention that similar incidents had occurred previously.

The Commissioner immediately directed officials to install barricades, deploy security guards, and cordon off hazardous areas. "We will close roads where there is a risk and deploy additional barricades and guards. Citizens should avoid entering dangerous zones," the Commissioner stated. She also noted that contractors had neglected safety measures.

With the Kumbh Mela flag-hoisting ceremony scheduled for October 31, assurances were given that works in priority areas would be completed on time. Addressing the issue of potholes, the Commissioner stated that while a large number of potholes have been filled so far, the poor condition of internal roads persists. She clarified that work being carried out by MNGL is also causing difficulties. A project report for internal roads is currently being prepared, and plans are in place to secure the necessary funds.

The Commissioner appealed to citizens to cooperate and maintain coordination with the administration.
