Malegaon Couple Caught Selling Mephedrone Near Nashik Road Railway Station

A couple from Malegaon, caught selling the Mephedrone (MD) drug near Nashik Road Railway Station, was arrested by the police, officials said on Monday. A search of the suspects led to the seizure of drugs worth approximately ₹3.6 lakh, they added.

A case has been registered at Nashik Road Police Station in this regard. The anti-narcotics team of the city crime branch successfully conducted the operation, seizing drugs worth a total of ₹4 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Samad Siraj Ahmed Ansari alias Babu (45) and Shabana Abdul Samad Ansari (40), both residents of Malegaon near Kamalapura Akhara Masjid.

Acting on a tip-off received by Senior Inspector Sushila Kolhe, the police learned that the couple would arrive in the railway station area to sell MD drugs in the morning. In response, a police team set a trap outside the station.

Upon noticing suspicious activity, the police detained the couple and conducted a body search. Babu was found carrying 61.5 grams of Mephedrone worth approximately ₹3,07,500, while Shabana was found with 10.5 grams worth around ₹52,500.

Following their arrest, the police confiscated narcotics and other items worth ₹3,80,300 from the couple’s possession. The suspects have been handed over to Nashik Road Police for further legal proceedings.

The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of Senior Inspector Sushila Kolhe, along with Assistant Inspector Sachin Chaudhary, Vishal Patil, Jamadar Ranjan Bendale, Sanjay Tajne, Devkisan Gaikar, Havaldar Balwant Kolhe, Ammaldar Ganesh Vadje, Anirudh Yewle, Yogesh Sanap, Balasaheb Nandre, Chandrakant Bagde, and Archana Bhad.
