The Nanded police have arrested the tehsildar of Dhanora taluka in Gadchiroli district for allegedly torturing his wife for not having a baby. The accused tehsildar has been identified as Avinash Shriram Shembatwad and is a native of Nanded district.
He was married to a girl from Maganpura in Nanded around one and a half years back. However, they did not have any children. Avinash was annoyed with it and used to beat his wife and threatened to kill her. He and his family members used to inflict mental and physical torture to her.

He had also done black magic and threatened her at gunpoint, the victim mentioned in her complaint.
A case of domestic violence and under sections of Black Magic Act was registered against Shembatwad, his parents and two brothers with the Shivajinagar police station on March 11. The police arrested the accused on April 13 and presented before the court. He has been remanded in the magisterial custody and the further investigation is on.
