Thane Hit-And-Run: 21-Year-Old Darshan Hegde Dies After Speeding Car Hits His Two-Wheeler; Case Registered
Police have registered a case under the Motor Vehicles Act and are scanning CCTV footages from the area to identify the suspect.

Thane: A 21-year-old biker died after being hit by a car in Thane. The driver of the car fled the scene after the incident. The deceased has been identified as Darshan Hegde, a resident of Sant Dynashewar Nagar, Wagale Estate, Thane. Hegde was a second-year BSc student.
The incident occurred on Monday around 1:45 AM on the Nashik-Mumbai road near Nitin Junction. The Naupada police have booked a case against the unknown driver of the car under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicle Act. According to the police, the deceased had left his office on his motorcycle to buy food when the accident took place.
The car was heading from Thane towards Mumbai when it struck him while traveling in the opposite direction. A passerby rushed to the scene and found him lying on the road with injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Senior Police Inspector Abhay Mahajan from Naupada Police Station stated, "We lodged an FIR against the car's driver. We are reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby locality. After obtaining the footage of the vehicle's number, we will send it to the Regional Transport Officer for further details. We will apprehend him soon."
