Thane: Fire Breaks Out In Diva Residential Building, No Injuries Reported
A fire broke out in a residential building in Diva early Wednesday but was quickly contained with no injuries reported. A separate minor blaze at Sion’s LTMG Hospital OPD building caused temporary disruption but was also controlled in time. Officials said both incidents were triggered by electrical issues, highlighting ongoing safety concerns in urban buildings.

A fire broke out in a residential building in Diva in the early hours of Wednesday, causing concern among residents before being swiftly brought under control. Officials confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
According to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation, the alert was received at around 1:54 am from the Diva Beat Fire Station. The blaze occurred at Baburao Residency, located near Hanuman Temple, close to Diva Railway Station in Diva West.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fire originated in the kitchen of a first floor flat, Room No. 103, in the ground plus four storey building. The flat is owned by Dinesh Sawant and was occupied by tenant Sushil Mestri.
Officials believe a short circuit in the kitchen’s electrical board sparked the fire, which then spread to the refrigerator. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot with a rescue vehicle and managed to contain the flames before they could spread further.
Swift Response Prevents Major Damage
The quick action of the fire brigade ensured the situation remained under control, preventing a potentially serious incident in the densely populated area. Residents were alerted in time, allowing for a safe response without panic or injury.

In a separate incident on Tuesday morning, a minor fire broke out at the out patient department building of Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital in Sion, briefly disrupting services.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said the fire was reported at 11:57 am and classified as a Level I call shortly after. The blaze started in a lecture room on the ground floor and was confined to electrical wiring, air conditioning units, furniture and records.
Firefighters brought the situation under control within an hour, ensuring safety. However, OPD services were suspended for the day as a precaution, highlighting the need for constant vigilance in public facilities.
