Thane: A 35-year-old man died after a fire erupted in a transformer in Shilphata area. Fire tenders are at the spot, said officials.
The incident happened on Friday morning and was reported with Disaster Management Cell at around 6.20 am.
According to the information received, an underground Torrent Power electric cable near Hanuman Hotel at Shilphata caught fire. News agency PTI stated that the fire then engulfed his house and he died because he was trapped in his home.

"The fire broke out in underground power cables. The blaze also triggered explosions before spreading to a nearby house and engulfing it," an official was quoted as saying.
The local fire brigade and RDMC personnel had rushed to the spot and three fire engines were engaged in dousing the fire. The cause of fire has not been ascertained yet.
Mumbra fire
In another incident, a fire broke out in Mumbra area of Thane district. At least 30 families were evacuated from the five-storey building after a major fire broke out in its ground-floor shop and Friday morning.
Two fire engines were dispatched, and the blaze was extinguished in an hour and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
