Navi Mumbai: NMMC Alumni Rabia Shaikh Honored For Becoming Western Region Football Captain

In a special ceremony, the civic chief Dr. Kailas Shinde congratulated the captain and extended his best wishes for her performance in the tournament.

The Navi MUMBAI Municipal corporation (NMMC) held a special felicitation ceremony of the captain of the  western region team for India Khelo Football league 2025 (IKF-4) Rabia Sagar Shaikh. The newly appointed captain was the former student of NMMC School no 36 in Koparkhairane.

In a special ceremony, the civic chief Dr. Kailas Shinde congratulated the captain and extended his best wishes for her performance in the tournament. Present at the occasion were Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Education Sangharatna Khillare, Education Officer  Aruna Yadav, and Sports Officer Revappa Gurav.

“Rabia’s exceptional performance has brought glory to her alma mater and serves as a beacon of inspiration for students at NMMC School No. 36, Koparkhairane. Her achievements have been widely applauded across all levels, highlighting the potential and talent nurtured by NMMC schools,” said an officer.

Rabia has a distinguished track record in football, having excelled in numerous tournaments. Her achievements include being Runner-up in the Subroto Roy Football Cup, winning the DSO Football Tournament, the Mumbai Football League and even the  TFC Thane Football League.

Her success is credited to the guidance of football coaches Rohan Jagtap and Dnyaneshwar Ghughe, along with support from team managers Yogesh Surve, Kunal Koshatwar, and Ashwini Sawale. Additionally, NMMC Sports Officer Revappa Gurav and teacher Prashant Gadekar are reported to have played key roles in shaping her journey.
