Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organized special awareness camps on malaria and dengue during the Shri Guru Singh Sabha-Sikh Nanakshahi Calendar celebrations.
The camp aimed to educate citizens about these diseases and mosquito breeding sites. Notably, around 20,000 residents participated in similar screening camps organized by NMMC in August 2024, highlighting the community's engagement in health initiatives.
At camp, 4,311 citizens received information on malaria and dengue, including preventive measures. "The camps featured live demonstrations of Anopheles and Aedes mosquito breeding sites and larvae, emphasizing the importance of eliminating stagnant water sources to prevent mosquito breeding," said an official.

Citizens were asked to cover all water storage containers and eliminate potential breeding sites like discarded materials and rooftop plastic sheets. It was emphasized that such measures are crucial to controlling malaria and dengue in Navi Mumbai.
Previously 330 camps that attracted 156,011 participants, were conducted in November 2024 to create mass awareness about the illness among the public.
