High On Inhalant, Man Attacks Family Members With Knife In Maharashtra's Beed; Grandmother Succumbs To Injuries, Parents Critical

A man with a glue addiction attacked his parents and grandmother with a knife after being refused money to buy his drugs in Parli city of Maharashtra's Beed district. According to reports, the accused attacked family members whilst under the influence of intoxicants.

The accused has been identified as Arbaaz Ramzan. Arbaaz's grandmother, Zubeda Qureshi, died immediately after being brutally attacked, whilst his parents are battling for their lives in a government hospital in Ambajogai. The condition of Arbaaz's mother and father is said to be critical.

Arbaaz brutally assaulted his family members after allegedly being refused money for intoxicants.

After being informed about the incident, police detained the accused and launched an investigation into the matter.

Glue addiction, particularly among street children, is a significant public health concern in India, with inhalant use existing since the 1970s and increasing significantly over recent decades, especially among street-oriented young people. The prevalence of glue sniffing, especially among street children, is alarmingly high and presents a challenge for health and social services, as these easily accessible and cheap substances provide a quick escape from hunger and harsh living conditions for vulnerable children across major Indian cities.
