Ujjain: First phase of three-tier panchayat body elections; over 73% voters cast their votes in district

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): In the first phase of tree-tier panchayat body elections, 73.54 per cent voters of Ujjain district cast their votes. Counting of votes was started as soon as the polling was completed and the first rsult to come out was from Akoliya Gram Panchayat. Here BJP-backed Mangubai who comes from a very wealthy family was elected sarpanch.

In the first phase of panchayat elections, votes were cast in Ujjain and Barnagar janpad panchayats. There was a lot of enthusiasm about the voting in both the janpad panchayats. In Ujjain district, 73.74 per cent votes had been cast in the polling that lasted till 3 pm. Among them, the number of women was much higher than that of men. A total of 74.40 per cent women exercised their voting right in the panchayat elections, while only 72.72 per cent men cast their votes. Counting of votes was started at the polling booths immediately after the voting. However, the results were not declared till the news was filed.

In view of the election, collector Asheesh Singh and SP Satyendra Kumar Shukla inspected the Madhavpura polling station in Barnagar janpad panchayat. Collector and SP also reached Ingoria and inspected the model ??polling station. Seeing the long queues at the polling stations, they directed that the number of polling personnel be increased. This resulted in the pace of voting picking up. The results of the post of panch and sarpanch will be known by the night, but the contenders for membership of the district and janpad panchayat will have to wait. Polling teams going to rural areas will return to the headquarters till late night after completing the counting.
