MP News: CM Mohan Yadav Pays Tribute To Gurkirat Singh Manocha Killed In Canada; Mortal Remains Brought To Hometown Ujjain

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid tribute to the late Gurkirat Singh Manocha during his visit to Ujjain on Friday, around 20 after the young man was killed in a violent attack in Canada.

Yadav offered floral tributes to the mortal remains of Manocha and met the grieving family at their residence. Expressing grief over the incident, he said the state government stands with the people of Madhya Pradesh in their moments of happiness as well as sorrow.

He also shared a post on X expressing condolences over Manocha’s death. In his message, Yadav said the mortal remains of the student were brought back to his hometown Ujjain after the tragic incident in Canada.

He added that he visited the family, paid his last respects and tried to comfort them during their difficult time.

Yadav further said that the Madhya Pradesh government had requested the Government of India to help bring the body back to India. With the efforts of the central government led by Narendra Modi and the state government, the mortal remains were brought back from Canada.

The Chief Minister also prayed to Lord Mahakal to give strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.

Several leaders were present during the tribute, including state minister Gautam Tetwal, Member of Parliament Anil Firojiya and MLA Anil Jain Kaluheda. They also offered flowers and paid their respects to the deceased.

Gurkirat Singh Manocha, an Indian student from Ujjain, was killed in British Columbia after a violent attack. His family alleged that he was assaulted by around 10 to 12 people due to an old dispute. They also claimed he was run over by a vehicle while returning home after finishing his shift at Walmart.

The incident reportedly took place near the Charlie Lake boat ramp.

Police from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have launched an investigation into the case.
