Dhamnod-Barwah Highway To Be Repaired With ₹94 Lakhs
Mandleshwar (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) has prepared a repair estimate of Rs 94 lakh for Dhamnod-Barwah Highway, which will begin after getting government approval.
The initiative comes after MLA Rajkumar Mev raised concerns about the road's deteriorating condition, particularly in the Maheshwar assembly constituency, where 85 percent of the highway falls.
Frequent accidents due to potholes and dilapidated condition of the road prompted MLA Mev to write a letter to CM Yadav on December 16, last year. Discussions with MPRDC officials revealed that the highway was constructed by RNN Tollways Company, which has refused to undertake necessary repairs.
Consequently, MPRDC stated that repairs could not proceed until the company was blacklisted. Following CM's directives, MPRDC has terminated the contract with RNN Tollways and is moving forward with the repair process. General Manager Rakesh Jain confirmed that the repair work is expected to begin this month.

Meritorious Students Await Laptops & Scooties In Barwani
Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): As many as 650 meritorious students in Barwani district who scored above 75% in their Class 12 board examinations in May 2024, are still waiting for the laptops and scooties promised under a scheme initiated by former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
The initiative, designed to promote educational excellence, offers Rs 25,000 for laptops to students scoring above 75% and scooties to each school’s top performer. While over 100 students benefited from this scheme in 2022-23, the current batch faces unprecedented delays.
As the new academic year progresses and annual examinations approach in February, the enthusiasm of these meritorious students has turned into disappointment. District education officer Sheela Chauhan attributed the delay to pending instructions from Bhopal. “No instructions have come from the higher level regarding this,” she said.
