After completion of Mhow-Khandwa Guuge conversion project traffic of passenger and goods trains going to South India will increase exponentially on this section as this is a shorter route connecting major North Indian cities to South Indian cities.
The gauge conversion work of Mhow-Khandwa section is currently going on and doubling of the section will be carried out separately. Similarly, following the completion of Indore-Manmad new rail line project, the traffic of goods trains from Guna, Gwalior and other north Indian cities to Mumbai will also increase significantly.
Ultimately, Indore-Manmad Rail line will go up to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) for the shipment of the cargoes, Thus the doubling of Dewas-Maksi route was necessary, he said.
