Indore: To access groundwater level; Piezometers installed at 10 places in city

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): To assess the effectiveness of rainwater harvesting systems being installed in the city, piezometers (used to measure groundwater level) have been installed at 10 places in the city.

Executive engineer Sanjeev Srivastava said that the work of installing piezometers has been done to assess the current groundwater level of the city and to measure the increase or decrease in the groundwater level during and after the upcoming rainy season.

Through this piezometer water level of the borewell can be obtained online on a cloud dashboard in real-time on a daily basis, which can be monitored anywhere by the officials of the corporation through computer or mobile. The piezometers installed for monitoring the groundwater level are installed on the surface of the land, which through the sound web, assess the groundwater level by a technical method.

Commissioner Pratibha Pal on Monday informed that in order to increase the groundwater level of the city, work is being done to install rainwater harvesting systems at various places of the city as well as religious places.

According to the instructions of commissioner Pratibha Pal, a dialogue was held by the corporation with the intellectuals, religious leaders, and officials of various organisations regarding rainwater conservation

Work has been done to install rainwater harvesting systems at houses, institutions, hotels, restaurants, malls, commercial areas, buildings as well as religious places.
