Indore (Madhya Pradesh): City crime branch on Wednesday arrested two men with MD drugs worth ₹60 lakh. They had brought the drugs from somewhere else and planned to sell it at a higher price.
Acting on directives from senior officers to crackdown on illegal drug trade, crime branch has been conducting intelligence-based operations targeting such individuals.
In one such operation, the team received a tip-off that four people would deliver MD drugs to someone in the city. The team intercepted a car near Tata Steel Square, in front of Raen Basera on VIP Road.
Upon questioning, the accused identified themselves as Sudhir Chauhan, a resident of Ujjain district, Dilip alias Dulhe Singh, a resident of Agar district, Dharmendra Singh Sisodia of Jhalawar in Rajasthan and Dule Singh Rajput, also from Agar district.
During preliminary investigation, accused allegedly informed the police that they were habitual drug users and revealed that they bought MD drugs at lower prices from other cities and planned to sell them here.
The team recovered about 57 grams of MD drugs from their possession, along with the car. Police claimed that the value of the drugs is Rs 60 lakh in the international market. A case has been registered against them under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act. Further action is underway based on the ongoing investigation.
