Dewas News Row: Dewas Municipal Corporation elections meeting held to discuss booth arrangments

The officials of private and government schools were present in the meeting as the polling stations are to be set up in these schools.

Dewas (Madhya Pradesh): Commissioner Vishal Singh Chouhan and SDM Pradeep Soni chaired a meeting at the Municipal Corporation meeting room on Thursday in connection with the upcoming municipal election on July 13.

The officials of private and government schools were present in the meeting as the polling stations are to be set up in these schools.

In the meeting, they discussed the process of distributing the election-related materials in the 45 wards of Dewas. The SDM also discussed the arrangements of tents, tables, chairs, rugs, vehicles and drinking water at the polling stations. To monitor all the arrangements, a control room has been established at the corporation office.

Tehsildar Poonam Tomar, finance deputy commissioner Punit Shukla, deputy commissioner Tanuja Malviya, Lokendra Singh Solanki, Corporation Executive Engineer Nagesh Verma, and many others were also present.

Officers directed to continuously run voter awareness campaign

Dewas Collector Chandramouli Shukla took a meeting of officials in connection with making voters aware of voting during the municipal corporation elections in the city. Municipal Commissioner Vishal Singh Chauhan, SDM Pradeep Soni, officers of Municipal Corporation, Women and Child Development, and School Education Department were present in the meeting.

During this, the collector instructed the officials to run the election awareness campaign on a continuous basis and to explain the voting process to voters. He also instructed that arrangements of medical, water, light, shed, toilets and other facilities at the booths be checked. The officials were asked to ensure that the complaints received during the election process are redressed on a priority basis. Notably, in the second phase of the Municipal Corporation Dewas, voting will be held on July 13 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm in which 2, 39, 652 voters would exercise their franchise.

Jagannath Yatra to be taken out in Dewas today

A spiritual and grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath will be taken out on July 8 by the International Association of Krishna Consciousness Dewas (ISKCON Dewas). It will start at noon from Sayaji Gate and would pass through MG Road, Tehsil Square, Navelti Square and Subhash Chowk before culminating at Mandi Dharamshala at 7 pm.

There will be an arrangement of kirtan and cultural presentations along with food offerings for the devotees. ISKCON Dewas chief Radhika Raman Das Prabhu has requested the residents and devotees of Dewas to participate in large numbers and make it successful. Prabhat Pheri and Nagar Hari Naam Sankirtan will also be organised, informed Ajay Agarwal.
