West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Blames DVC For Flood-Like Situation In Ghatal Ahead Of Monsoon (VIDEO)

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday had expressed her concern over flood like situation in Ghatal in West Midnapore district at the state Assembly ahead of monsoons.

She had also criticised the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for failing to carry out dredging.

“Presently DVC has the capacity of holding one lakh cusec waters. If they had done dredging on a regular basis then they would have capacity of holding four lakh cusec waters. Despite regular requests from the state irrigation department, DVC doesn’t inform the state before releasing waters. This is a man-made flood. The party which is in power at the centre doesn’t give any relief for floods for Bengal,” said Mamata.

Mamata also stated that Bengali speaking people are being termed as ‘Bangladeshi’ in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states.

“Is speaking Bengali a crime? People speaking Bengali with proper documents of the country are being termed as Bangladeshis at BJP ruled states,” further added Mamata.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also raised her concern over air and water pollution due to ‘war’ that has broken in many regions.

Meanwhile, BJP legislators walked out of the House protesting for the suspension of four saffron camp legislators.

BJP MLA and chief whip Shankar Ghosh said, “Mamata Banerjee during the 2021 Assembly elections has started ‘bandage politics’. Now few Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs are playing bandage politics.”
