Varanasi Artist Ritu Srivastava Showcases Endangered Himalayan Flora In Upcoming Uttarakhand Exhibit

Varanasi-based artist Ritu Srivastava has developed a specialized practice documenting Himalayan flora through acrylic paintings. Her current series comprises 54 canvases depicting endangered species including Brahmakamal (Saussurea obvallata) and Blue Poppy (Meconopsis betonicifolia), with technical accuracy derived from botanical studies.  Srivastava holds a postgraduate degree from Banaras Hindu University following initial training at Khairagarh University.

After twelve years teaching art, she transitioned to professional practice in 2018. Her methodology involves field research in biodiversity hotspots, with previous series examining Western Ghats ecosystems and Bharatpur's avian populations.  

The upcoming Uttarakhand exhibition follows her participation in group shows with established artists including Jatin Das. Conservation biologists have noted the educational value of her precise morphological representations, which employ a vibrant palette while maintaining scientific fidelity. Art market analysts report growing demand for her medium-scale works (typically 36x48 inches) among ecological art collectors.  

Srivastava's studio confirms preparations for a 2026 international tour, with negotiations underway for displays at three European natural history museums. The artist currently maintains a production rate of eight major works annually while conducting masterclasses at her Varanasi atelier.
