Kolkata: Former TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee on Sunday said that the money recovered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was not his.

While being taken to ESI hospital for medical checkup as instructed by Calcutta High Court, Chatterjee said that the money was not his and also said that soon people will come to know to whom it belongs.

“The money is not mine. Soon people will come to know the whole story,” said Chatterjee.

When asked if anybody was conspiring against him, he said, “You will get to know when the time comes.”

It may be noted that on Friday while being taken to a health checkup, Chatterjee had claimed that he was a ‘victim of a conspiracy’.

Slamming Chatterjee, TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said that why didn’t Chatterjee open his mouth at the beginning while he was questioned.

“After the party has taken the decision now he (Partha Chatterjee) is speaking. As an accused he can move the court and prove his innocence. Now he is saying it is not his money then he will say he doesn’t know Arpita Mukherjee and later he might doubt his own name and existence,” said Ghosh.

Meanwhile, according to Enforcement Directorate (ED) sources, they have found almost eight crore rupees in the bank accounts of Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that the whole scam involves TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
