Massive Drug Bust In Sonbhadra: Police Seize Ganja Worth ₹1 Crore, Four Arrested

Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint operation by the Kotwali Robertsganj, Thana Chopan, and Surveillance teams led to the seizure of a massive consignment of ganja worth approximately Rs 1 crore.

Authorities arrested four drug smugglers in two separate incidents, dealing a significant blow to the illegal narcotics trade in the region.

How Was the Racket Busted?

According to local publication Dynamite News, acting on intelligence inputs, the police conducted a strategic raid by intercepting a truck on the Shakti Nagar-Varanasi State Highway, covering areas under the jurisdiction of Robertsganj Kotwali and Thana Chopan.

During the operation, officials confiscated 2 quintals and 65 kg of ganja concealed in a DCM truck in Robertsganj, while Chopan police recovered an additional 2 quintals and 50 kg of the illegal substance from another vehicle.

Police Conducted a Strategic Raid

Superintendent of Police Sonbhadra, Ashok Kumar Meena, disclosed that the smugglers were transporting the contraband from Odisha to Prayagraj and Ludhiana when law enforcement intervened. "In both cases, the accused were attempting to smuggle ganja to different destinations when our teams successfully intercepted and seized the illicit cargo," he stated.

This decisive action by Sonbhadra Police underscores the growing menace of drug trafficking in Uttar Pradesh while reaffirming their commitment to curbing the illegal narcotics trade.

The crackdown serves as a stern warning to smugglers and a significant step towards dismantling organized drug networks in the state.
