'Jai Kishan Singh Used To Ask Size Of My Undergarments': UP Minister Asim Arun Gets His PS Arrested After Woman's Molestation Complaint; Watch

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minister Asim Arun on Thursday handed his personal secretary over to the police after a woman staff member approached him and complained of molestation by the accused. An FIR has been registered against the accused, Jai Kishan Singh, on the basis of the complaint filed by the woman. According to reports, Singh used to ask about the size of the woman's undergarments.

"The Yogi government is very strict against the sexual harassment of women. Today, taking a female employee's complaint seriously in my office, I personally informed the police for immediate action, and now the police are investigating the case," Arun said.

The UP minister further stated that he had decided to organise sensitisation workshops under the 'Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013' at all workplaces of the Social Welfare Department across the state.

According to a report by India Today, the incident took place around 15 days ago, and it involved molestation on two different occasions. Initially, the woman did not file the complaint. However, she showed courage later and approached the minister.

Jai Kishan Singh Arrested By Police:

"A woman's complaint, in itself, is sufficient — both to file a case and even for conviction. As a supervisor, it is currently my responsibility to ensure a safe and respectful work environment for both men and women working with me. If anyone tries to disrupt this atmosphere, action must be taken against them," the minister said as reported by India Today.

"A complaint was made by one of our female employees... She reported that she was molested twice by a private secretary in the department. She brought this to my attention today. I immediately took action, first, I informed the police, who registered an FIR and questioned the individual," Arun told news agency PTI.

"Second, I contacted and wrote to the Sachivalaya Prashasan Department, which is the cadre-controlling authority for such officers. They will conduct an inquiry and take appropriate administrative action," he added.
