CBI arrests an absconding accused in a case related to Vyapam | FPJ

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an absconding accused from Latur district in a case related to Forest Guard Recruitment Test-2013 conducted by Vyapam.

The accused person has been identified as Hariom Gupta.

The CBI had registered a case in compliance with the orders dated 09.07.2015 & 11.09.2015 of the Supreme Court of India and took over the investigation for trial from Madhya Pradesh Police.

Earlier, an FIR dated 03.03.2013 was registered with Police Station- Ambah, District Morena (M.P.) against Gupta and a candidate Rajkumar on a complaint from Centre Superintendent of a Higher Secondary School, Ambah.

"It was alleged that during the Forest Guard Recruitment Test-2013 held on 03.03.2013, Gupta had appeared in the written examination against Roll No.394262 in the name of original candidate Rajkumar," claimed agency officials.

During investigation, Gupta had been arrested by police on 03.03.2013 and his specimen finger prints were also taken. After investigation, a charge-sheet was also filed by the police against him in the court on 06.06.2013.

"During the trial, Gupta, a native of Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, fled from the judicial process and Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) was issued against him by the Trial Court. CBI visited various places in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra in search of Gupta. After strenuous efforts, CBI traced and arrested him from Latur. Gupta was produced before the Additional Session Judge for CBI Cases at Gwalior and has been remanded to judicial custody," the official said.
