66-Year-Old Woman Killed After Falling From Speeding Bus In Coimbatore - VIDEO
A 66-year-old woman died after falling from a moving bus in Coimbatore’s Kovaipudur. CCTV footage showed her losing balance while walking inside the bus as it accelerated. She suffered severe head injuries and was declared dead at a hospital. Police have booked the driver for rash driving and negligence under BNS provisions.
A 66-year-old woman died after falling from a moving bus in Kovaipudur, Coimbatore, on Sunday. The victim has been identified as G Kamatchi, a resident of Anna Sathukkam in Arivoli Nagar near Kovaipudur.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 9:50 am. Kamatchi boarded the S-17 bus from the Ayyappal Kovil stop through the rear entrance. The driver allegedly accelerated the vehicle soon after she got on.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed inside the bus. As Kamatchi was walking towards an empty seat near the front, she lost her balance and fell onto the road through the front entrance as the bus picked up speed. The bus reportedly did not have doors.
She sustained severe head injuries in the fall and was rushed to a nearby government hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Her body was later shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s daughter, a case has been registered against the driver for rash driving and causing death by negligence under relevant sections of the BNS.
