The education department may have appointed English teachers in primary schools in Sattari from this academic year, but PTA associations are clearly not satisfied as there are only 24 English teachers for 80 of the 101 primary schools in Sattari taluka.

As a result, English teachers will be expected to attend to multiple schools during the week.

According to sources, a number of Parent-Teacher Associations had demanded that teachers be appointed in primary schools, to enable students get a grasp over English in their further education.

Taking note of their requests, the education department appointed English teachers in 80 out of 101 schools in Sattari taluka. However, the PTAs realised that these are only part-time teachers and they would not be in a position to do justice to any one school as they would have to teach in multiple schools during the week.

The PTAs have been demanding full-time teachers at the primary level.

Last week, members of the PTA of the government primary school in Hivare-Sattari met the ADEI of Sattari taluka and demanded the appointment of full-time English teachers in primary schools.

The official put forth the current situation before them and said the 24 teachers have been appointed in 80 of the 101 schools to impart knowledge of English to as many schoolchildren as possible.

The PTAs are not satisfied and have submitted a letter requesting the appointment of full-time teachers in primary schools.
