Seema Pahwa Admits Considering Quitting Films, Says Creative Talent In Bollywood Has Been 'Murdered': 'Taken Over By Businessmen'
Seema Pahwa revealed she is considering quitting films due to the industry's shift towards business-minded decisions, which she believes have sidelined creative people. She criticised filmmakers for prioritising stars over seasoned actors like her, calling it "old-fashioned." Seema added, "I don't think we will get the respect that we deserve in films or the sort of work we deserve."

Seema Pahwa is currently awaiting the release of Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead. Recently, the actress revealed that she is considering quitting films after the industry has been taken over by businessmen. She stated that the current condition of the film industry is 'bad' and that they have 'murdered' creative people.
Speaking to Bollywood Thikana, Seema said, "The businessmen want to keep this industry alive with their business mind. I don’t think, we who have worked for so many years in the industry, can sustain this mindset. She talked about how the filmmakers are prioritising casting stars to ensure that their films generate profit, thus they don't cast actors like her.
"They calls us purane log (old fashioned people) and tell us, 'Your thought process is very old.' They argue with us that an actor makes a film work. According to them only commercial things make a film work," she said.
Further, Seema slammed the filmmakers for repeatedly making Rs 100 crore commercial, formula films, despite them not working at the box office. The actress shared that she has therefore diverted herself to theatre and admits to being happy working there.
"I don't think we will get the respect that we deserve in films or the sort of work we deserve," she said.
Seema shared that despite dedicating 55 years to the industry, it feels hurtful when someone suggests that an actor with only 5 years of experience is more significant than her.
