Kantara 2: Junior Artist Dies By Drowning On The Sets Of Rishab Shetty Starrer
A very sad incident happened on the sets of Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara Chapter 1 on Tuesday afternoon. A junior artist died by drowning in Kollur Souparnika river. According to a report, MF Kapil, who hails from Kerala, reportedly went for a swim in the river after a lunch break and he was swept away by a strong current.

A very sad incident happened on the sets of Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara Chapter 1 on Tuesday afternoon. A junior artist died by drowning in Kollur Souparnika River. According to a report in India Today, MF Kapil, who hails from Kerala, reportedly went for a swim in the river after lunch break and he was swept away by a strong current.
Local authorities and fire department immediately started search and rescue operation. However, Kapil’s body was recovered from the river later on Tuesday evening. A case has been registered at the Kollur police station, and an investigation is currently going on.

This is not the first time that an accident has taken place on the sets of Kantara 2. Earlier, a bus with junior artistes had overturned in Kollur. However, reportedly no one was injured. Even a massive set of the film was destroyed due to unexpected wind and rain.
Kantara Chapter 1 Release Date Postponed?
There were reports that, maybe because of the delay in the production, Kantara 2 might get postponed. However, last month, the makers had clarified that the movie is not delayed and will release on October 2, 2025.
Kantara, a Kannada film, was released in 2022. While it received a fantastic response in its original language, the makers later dubbed and released it in multiple lanagues including Hindi.
Kantara at the box office collected Rs. 309 crore. The film's Hindi dubbed version had minted Rs. 84 crore.
Now, everyone is waiting for Kantara 2 which is actually a prequel to the first part, and that’s why the makers have titled it as Kantara Chapter 1.
