Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s highly anticipated historical drama Chhaava finally hit theatres on Friday (February 14), generating a wave of mixed reactions from both fans and critics. Apart from Vicky, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna. While the actress will be seen as Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye will play the role of Mughal Shahenshah Aurangzeb.

Chhaava Controversy

The film was embroiled in a controversy after the trailer of the film was officially unveiled by the makers.

In one of the sequences in the trailer, Vicky and Rashmika's characters are seen performing lezim dance. A lot of people on social media and even some political leaders were upset with the portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Soon, the makers decided to delete the dance sequence from the film. Director Laxman Utekar also revealed in an official statement that he met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray and upon his suggestion, he decided to cut the lezim scene from the film.
