Chrisann Pereira Drugs Case: All about mastermind Paul Anthony & his heinous plan to frame Mumbai actress

Mumbai-based actress Chrisann Pereira finally walked out free from the Sharjah jail in UAE on Wednesday after being imprisoned for nearly a month in a planted drugs case.

The actress got caught up in the drugs case after one Paul Anthony, who held a grudge against her family, planted drugs in a trophy which she was to carry to UAE.

The accused Paul, along with his accomplice Ravi, was later arrested, and he confessed to hatching a plot to get Chrisann arrested and make the Pereira family suffer.

Who is Paul Anthony?

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Paul is a resident of Borivali and runs bakeries in Malad and Borivali. He had a beef with Chrisann's mother Premila Pereira which led to him holding a grudge against the family.

It all began when Paul's accomplice Ravi called Chrissan up claiming to be a part of a talent management agency and offered her a meaty role in some international web series. He told the actress that the audition was to be held in UAE and before she left, he handed her the trophy to be carried along with her, stating that it was a part of the audition script.

He also said that a booking under her name was made at Dubai's Hilton hotel, however, on reaching there, Chrissan found out that there was no accomodation booked for her. Doubting that she was duped, she spoke about her concerns with her father over a call and handed over the trophy to the airport police at Sharjah, complaining to them that she was cheated.

But she was then detained as the cops found the drugs in the trophy and booked her for smuggling.

Paul promised Chrisann's mother to help her

The report stated that Paul had travelled to Hyderabad with Chrisann's mother on the day the actress was arrested in Sharjah.

Pretending to be a well-wisher, Paul then told Premila that he had "contacts" in Sharjah who can help Chrissan get out of jail and fly back to India, and he demanded Rs 1 crore for it, which was eventually brought down to Rs 80 lakh.

However, Chrisann's family decided to get help from the police instead and the entire plot by Paul was exposed when the cops began a formal investigation in the case.

Paul Anthony: A 'serial framer'

The Chrisann Pereira case was not the first time that Paul devised such a plan to trap young talent.

Police investigation revealed that Paul had earlier sent his ex-girlfriend's sister to Sharjah with a drug-laced cake under the pretext of an event. He reportedly thought her to be the reason behind his breakup.

Paul had also sent one Clayton Rodrigues, a Borivali-based DJ, to Sharjah with a drugs-laced cake and upon his arrival in UAE, he called and gave a tip-off to the airport police about drugs in the cake.

In another case, Paul had sent one Ken Rodrigues with a trophy to Sharjah similar to that of Chrissan, but on reaching there, he realised he was duped, post which he threw the trophy and returned to India.
