Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced the cancellation of the Common Entrance Test (CET) and centralised admission process for the four-year integrated Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science-Bachelor of Education (B.A./B.Sc.-B.Ed.) programme from the academic year 2025-26.
This decision follows guidelines issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which has mandated the transition to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP).
The NCTE, through its notification dated January 25 last year and public notice dated February 5, 2024, instructed institutions to discontinue the existing four-year B.A./B.Sc.-B.Ed. programme and adopt the ITEP curriculum. In response, the Higher and Technical Education Department, Maharashtra, issued a directive, confirming the cancellation of the CET for B.A./B.Sc.-B.Ed. admissions.
Candidates aspiring to pursue the four-year ITEP will now have to appear for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2025, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The CET Cell has also announced that students who had already registered for the now-cancelled CET 2025 will receive a refund of the application fees, with detailed instructions regarding the refund to be provided on the official portal of the CET Cell.
Furthermore, colleges and universities that currently offer the four-year B.A./B.Sc.-B.Ed. programme have been instructed to apply to the NCTE for fresh approvals to transition their courses to the ITEP framework.
