A fresh controversy has erupted at Delhi University (DU) after ABVP leader Rishabh Chaudhary uploaded a video on Instagram showing himself smearing cow dung on the nameplate and door of DUSU President Raunak Khatri’s office. The act, captured and circulated widely on social media, has intensified the ongoing standoff between the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), further polarising student politics on campus.
What Happened?
ABVP leader Rishabh Chaudhary was spotted on Monday in a viral Instagram video smearing cow dung on the DUSU president's office nameplate and door.
Chaudhary said this was a retaliation to an incident in the past when DUSU President Raunak Khatri, who is an NSUI leader, had pasted cow dung in the office of a college principal at Lakshmibai College. That itself was a protest against the principal's use of cow dung on the wall in classrooms as part of a research experiment on natural cooling.
This caused a stir, and Khatri protested by smearing cow dung in the principal's office. Chaudhary then retaliated at the DUSU office. The incident's videos have gone viral and sparked a contentious online discussion.
