RTI Data Reveals 45% IIT Madras Students Might Not Get Placement In 2024
According to an RTI filed by an IIT alumnus, the placement process at the IIT’s might not be a fruitful and a smooth process this year.

As the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is set to end in May, the placement scenario at the IIT Madras has garnered attention. According to the data provided by Dheeraj Singh, an IIT Kanpur alumnus, on the basis of the RTI filed by him reveals that placements may not be a fruitful process this year.
According to Singh, the IITs might record a higher number of unplaced students as compared to the previous years. He has crunched these numbers from the RTI data that he received.
As per the placement statistics for the passing year 2024, a total of 2,100 students registered for placement opportunities. Out of these, 1,150 students have secured placements either in Phase 1 or Phase 2, leaving 950 students still without job offers.
Out of these, Singh has predicted that following the current placement trend, approximately 45.2% students who registered might not get placed.
The Free Press Journal has reached out to IIT Madras for their reaction and confirmation on the statistics.
