Hyderabad: In a fresh boost to its railway safety portfolio, HBL Engineering has bagged a sizable order tied to India’s ongoing rail modernization push, reinforcing its positioning in indigenous train protection technologies.

Wins Major Rail Order

HBL Engineering Limited has secured a Letter of Acceptance from Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi, for a contract valued at Rs.179.79 crore. The deal covers supply, testing, and commissioning of onboard KAVACH equipment version 4.0, marking a significant addition to the company’s order book.

This contract strengthens HBL’s foothold in railway safety systems, an area seeing increasing investment as Indian Railways scales up indigenous protection solutions.

Scope And Timeline

The order is entirely domestic and involves end-to-end execution of onboard KAVACH systems, including deployment and operational readiness. The company is required to complete the contract on or before February 15, 2027, giving it a defined execution window of under a year.

The inclusion of testing and commissioning elements signals a comprehensive mandate rather than just equipment supply, indicating deeper integration responsibilities.

Driven By Safety Push

The contract aligns with the broader push toward deploying KAVACH, India’s indigenously developed train collision avoidance system. By securing this project, HBL is tapping into a growing pipeline of railway safety upgrades.

The company, through its disclosure signed by Company Secretary G B S Naidu, indicated that the order reflects continued traction in advanced safety technologies, a segment gaining policy and budgetary support.

Clean Governance Structure

HBL clarified that none of its promoters or group entities have any interest in the awarding entity, ensuring the deal is free from related-party considerations. The company also confirmed that the transaction does not fall under related party norms.

This transparency reinforces the arm’s length nature of the contract and aligns with regulatory disclosure standards.

HBL’s latest win underscores its growing relevance in India’s railway safety ecosystem, with execution over the next year likely to be closely tracked for further order momentum.
