Two Women Naxalites Killed In Police Encounter In Madhya Pradesh's Mandla

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Two women Naxalites were reported to be killed in a police encounter in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district, a senior official confirmed on Wednesday morning.

According to Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana, the firing occurred under the Bichhiya police station limits.

Authorities recovered an SLR rifle, a regular rifle, a wireless set, and various daily-use items from the scene.

Operation still ongoing 

According to Balaghat Superintendent of Police SP Rajat Saklecha, the gun-fight erupted on Wednesday morning, and the encounter is still ongoing.

The special Hawk Force, which was formed to control Naxalite activities, is leading the operation. This force is active in the Naxal-affected regions of Madhya Pradesh. Police claim that the purpose of this operation is to weaken the influence of Naxalites in the area and strengthen security measures.

Both Balaghat and Mandla districts are known to be affected by Naxal activities. Reports of Naxalite movements frequently emerge from these regions. Security forces regularly conduct anti-Naxal operations to curb their activities. 

Police received a tip-off

Based on intelligence reports, the police received a tip-off that Naxalites were planning a major attack in the area. Acting on the same, security forces launched a search operation, which led to the encounter.

Recent encounter erupted controversy 

Recently, in Mandla district near the Kanha Tiger Reserve, police had also claimed to have killed a Naxalite. However, this incident sparked controversy, as local villagers and social organizations alleged that the person killed was an innocent tribal and not a Naxalite. The police had to clarify their stand on the issue.

Search operation intensified

Following the encounter, security forces have intensified their search operation to ensure that no Naxalite escapes. Police believe that this operation will help curb Naxal activities in the region. 

However, this fresh encounter has also raised questions about the government’s and security agencies' strategies. Despite this, police maintain that their primary goal is to restore peace in Naxal-affected areas and ensure the safety of civilians.
