Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Social activists working for men’s welfare in Madhya Pradesh will take part in day-long Purush Satyagrah at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday.
The satyagrah is being organised to support their three demands. First, setting up a commission for men to protect their interests. Second, make amendments to Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, Section 498A of Indian Penal Code and Section 125 of Criminal Procedure Code. Third, setting up a desk for men at women police stations across the country to hear men’s side when a complaint is made against them.
About 2,000 men from all over the country will join the satyagrah, which will begin at 8 am and continue till 4 pm.
About 100 social activists from different places of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Indore, Betul, Chhindwara and Khurai will take part in satyagrah organised by Save Indian Family, an organisation working for men’s welfare.
According to a member of MP Chapter of the organisation, Zaki Ahmed, the satyagrah is being organised to draw attention towards alleged atrocities committed against men by their wives. “Laws are misused to harass men and as a result a large number of men commit suicide due to harassment,” he added.
