Madhya Pradesh High Court Seeks State’s Response On Delay In Primary Teacher Appointments

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The principal bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur has asked the state government to respond regarding the delay in appointing primary teachers. The hearing, held on Monday, addressed the issue of government withholding appointment orders for primary teachers by the School Education Department.

During the proceedings, the petitioners' counsel informed the division bench of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain that petitioners had been denied appointment orders due to an interim order issued on August 4, 2023.

Despite the dismissal of a related petition on January 28, 2025, the petitioners' status remained unchanged, and they had not been reinstated. The counsel pointed out that there was no legal stay on the 27% reservation law. The government, however, argued that appointments could not be made due to the interim order dated May 4, 2022. The Advocate General also informed the court that the petition had been transferred to the Supreme Court for further hearing.

Senior Advocate Rameshwar Singh Thakur, representing the petitioners, said that the interim order of May 4, 2022, had become ineffective due to the transfer of the case (petition number 3668/2022) to the Supreme Court. The High Court has now directed the state government to provide a detailed response to the matter.The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 10, 2025, he said.
