Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A Bihar-based gang, in collusion with local agents in Gwalior and Chambal divisions, exploited Aadhaar system loopholes to deploy proxy candidates—or “solvers”—in the constable recruitment exam.
Operating for years, the gang manipulated biometric data by blending the fingerprints and photos of solvers and actual aspirants, thereby bypassing verification protocols. The scam came to light after solvers were caught impersonating at various exam centres.
Three key agents—Abhitabh Singh, Shyam Singh Meena and Ashok Gurjar—facilitated the operation, reportedly charging Rs 8–10 lakh per candidate. All three are currently absconding, with Abhitabh previously named in another fraud case.

In Gwalior alone, solvers appeared for at least 10 candidates. FIRs have been registered at Kampoo and Madhoganj police stations. One candidate, Atendra Singh Meena, was arrested after admitting he paid Rs 8 lakh to Abhitabh for a proxy appearance.
In Sheopur, solvers linked to Imran, Deepak Rawat, and Harjyan Rawat were apprehended. Investigations revealed the gang used the ID of an Aadhaar updater based in Delhi and a modified APK file to alter fingerprints and photos remotely—ensuring biometric mismatches remained under 30% to avoid detection.
Each solver was paid Rs 3 lakh, with extra charges for Aadhaar manipulation and technical support. The UIDAI has been notified, and officials are now revising the Aadhaar update process to prevent further misuse.
Meanwhile, interrogations are on. Arrested solvers have confessed to impersonating candidates in the Gwalior region.
