Madhya Pradesh Congress Demands President’s Rule In State

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Demanding imposition of President’s Rule in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress said that the BJP-led state government has failed to provide 27% reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBC).

The PCC chief Jitu Patwari, addressing media persons here on Sunday said that there is a Constitutional crisis in the state as the state government has failed to ensure 27 per cent reservation to OBCs. He urged the President Droupadi Murmu to immediately impose President's rule in the state.

On March 8, 2019, the then Congress government had brought an Ordinance increasing the OBC reservation from 14% to 27% in the state. The Ordinance was challenged by MBBS students and the High Court stayed the government's ordinance. The ordinance was later implemented by the Assembly in July 2019 by duly making a law, claimed the Congress state chief. The law has neither been challenged in any petition till date nor has any court stayed the enforcement of this law, he further stated.

Earlier, the state in-charge Harish Chaudhary and Patwari in a meeting with office bearers held discussions on the upcoming strategy and program of the organisation.

The decision was taken that the party will reach every house, every person of the state with an action plan for ‘Mission Madhya Pradesh’ and connect the common people with the policies and ideology of the organization. The party will work to make the people aware of the anti-people policies of BJP and their dictatorial thinking, they added.
