Ganjbasoda (Madhya Pradesh): Even as the new academic session in all the primary, middle and secondary government schools of the state has already commenced, students would hardly be able to pursue their education properly for want of teachers.

A large number of posts of teachers are lying vacant but the state government seems to be in no mood to regularise guest teachers in schools and it would be very difficult for the existing teachers to cope with the load.

Unemployed youths who have cleared DEd, BEd and post-graduation are teaching in schools at less pay. Even after more than a decade, the state government and the top officials of the education department sitting idle are not able to formulate any policy to make guest teachers permanent.

Several protests were staged by guest teachers at tehsil, district and state level for many years. Several memorandums were handed over to education ministers, local MLAs and officials of the education department but they received only assurances.

State TET exam qualified students alleged that the process of recruitment of teachers in the state is going at a snail’s pace. Moreover, the newly upgraded CM Rise Schools would not get teachers appointed recently and the students would continue to suffer.
