Bhopal: RSB Indore beat Central Secretariat, Delhi; clinches gold at All India Civil Services Hockey Tournament
Women's trophy goes to Central Secretariat, Delhi.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): RSB, Indore won the gold medal in menís group of All India Civil Services Hockey Tournament defeating Central Secretariat, Delhi 3-2 in the final played here at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium on Thursday, as per information from the organisers.
Central Secretariat, Delhi however won the gold medal in womenís group beating Haryana Secretariatís team 4-0.
In the menís final, Navneet scored two goals and Javen one whereas for Delhi Govind Singh Rawat was the lone scorer with two goals.
In the womenís final, Jaspreet Kaur and Karishma Singh scored two goals each against Haryana. The latter got the silver medal.
The bronze medal in womenís group went to Chhattisgarh Civil Services team which trounced Madhya Pradesh Civil Services team 11-0 in what looked like a one-sided contest.
While talking to Free Press, the players said it was a tough match and appreciated Delhi's fight in the menís final match.
They mentioned that Delhi player Pradeep Kunwar played exceptionally well and was tough to play against.
MP Civil Services women's team stood fourth and was declared tournament's best side. During the men's final, the stadium was jam packed and people cheered for the teams.
In the closing ceremony, winning teams were awarded by Olympian Sameer Dad and other officials. Best players from men's and women's category were felicitated with medals and trophies.
