A horrifying video has gone viral on social media showing a youth pushing a man under an approaching train in the United States' Seattle. According to reports, the incident took place on March 19, when 26-year-old Elisio Melendez tried to push a man in front of an approaching light rail train at Seattle's Northgate station. The accused has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, as reported by local media.
The viral video of the incident shows Melendez approaching a man from behind and pushing him as the train arrived at the platform. Fortunately, the victim escaped fatal injury as he was able to keep his balance and avoid being struck.
This doesn't stop here as Melendez can be seen pushing the victim towards the train a second time before fleeing the scene. According to reports, the suspect did not try to steal anything from the victim and they did not know each other.
After the incident, Melendez was tracked to a nearby mental health facility by authorities with the help of CCTV footage. Later, he was arrested by King County sheriff's deputies.

Melendez was previously charged for stabbing his sister in the stomach in 2019. However, all charges were eventually dropped after multiple evaluations concluded he was not competent to face trial.
He was released from the hospital to a less restrictive alternative a year later. The investigation is ongoing. Melendez's next court appearance is scheduled for March 31, where he will enter a guilty or not guilty plea.
