Earthquake In Turkey: Quake Of Magnitude 5.2 Jolts Ankara Ahead Of Ukraine President Zelensky's Visit (VIDEO)

Ankara, May 15: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey's Konya on Thursday (May 15). The tremors felt in Ankara, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently visiting.

No reports of damage or casualties have been received so far. Authorities are monitoring the situation. Visuals of the earthquake are surfacing on social media in which it can be seen that the cars moving on road are shaking after the earthquake hit the nation.

A video also shows visuals from inside a boutique. It can be seen in the video that the people are panicking after the earthquake occurred. They are also seen running for cover to save their lives. However, it is not confirmed if the visuals are from today's earthquake.

The 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck northeast of Kulu at around 3:46 PM on Thursday, according to EMSC. Strong tremors were felt in Ankara, the country’s capital, but no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

This comes just a day after a 6.1-magnitude quake hit near Fry, Greece, with tremors felt across the region including Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.

Turkey is still recovering from the devastating 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes in February 2023 which claimed the lives of over 59,000 in Turkey and 8,000 in Syria.
