Theme Park Horror! 17 Trapped Mid-Air After Ride Malfunctioned In Hong Kong; Watch Terrifying Visuals

In a terrifying, adventurous ride, 17 people were trapped mid-air when it malfunctioned for nearly two hours in Hong Kong's Ocean Park in China. All the stranded riders were rescued safely, and no injuries were reported. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 6 PM. The visuals of the incident have been widely shared on social media.

Twister Ride Malfunctioned

The ride which goes up in the air with its riders going moving upside down, also known as 'twister ride,' malfunctioned on Sunday evening at around 6 PM in Hong Kong's Wong Chuk Hang theme park. Soon, rescue operations started and all the 17 riders were rescued safely.

According to the reports, the firefightors reached the destination and rescued first one at around 7:38 PM. The rescue operations completed by 8:07 PM with all 17 people safely evacuated and no medical help was required. The 17 people included 9 males and 8 female park visitors.

What Park Officials Said?

Ocean Park reported that the ride’s safety protection system was activated at 6.20pm after detecting a signal failure, forcing its suspension.

The park also said that it conducted daily inspections of all rides and also carried out regular maintenance checks based on the specific requirements of each one when asked aboput when it was last tested.

On the other hand, lawmaker Chan Siu-hung, a registered engineer, said the series of amusement ride failures at the park underscored the need for a thorough investigation to determine the cause, enhance safety and rebuild visitors’ confidence.
