Observing the boy overnight at the hospital, doctors suggested he would be out of danger if the magnetic balls passed out naturally through stools. Are you a Marvel fan? If yes, you might have grown up wanting to be like of the comic characters, only to later realise you can't really walk into the world of fiction. However, a little kid didn't think twice from doing a risky 'Marvel' stunt trying to become X Men's Magneto and receive supernatural powers.

8-year-old swallows magnetic toy

A eight-year-old named Junior Gallon swallowed a magnetic toy gifted to him by his father Louise Mcfarlane. Gallon was so thrilled to play with the Marvel toy that he decided to place two of the magnets on either side of his oral appendage. He pretend that he had a tongue piercing but ended up swallowing the magnetic balls.

The toy ordered through Amazon was doing fine until the incident that took place in December.

Rushed to hospital

The boy called up his parents after accidentally swallowing the magnets, which were "quite small but powerful." He was soon rushed to the hospital, where doctors warned him from coming closer to magnets or metal items.

A report by the New York Post stated the magnets had "shot" to the back of his throat, and later spotted clumped together in his stomach when X-rayed. The doctors expressed concern over the 'Marvel magnet' case of the boy and called it a dangerous one.

“Doctors told us to keep magnetic items and clothes away from him, even [zippers], because the magnets in his body can follow the zips. We had to make sure we had no clothing like that for a good few weeks,” the mother was quoted as saying in the news report.

Safe now

Observing the boy overnight at the hospital, doctors suggested he would be out of danger if the magnetic balls passed out naturally through stools. Weeks later when Gallon was taken for an X-ray, it showed no magnets in his body. Reportedly, the parents didn't notice the magnets pooped out but he is said to be safe now.

While it's a known thing that kids drop almost everything they see into their mouths, the parents believed it was worrying to know their eight-year-old had gulped a magnetic toy.

Amazon responds

“You hear horror stories when kids do die, with batteries and stuff, so you instantly think the worst,” they said.

Amazon reacted to the incident and mentioned they have now removed this product from their sale ensuring safety.
